Hi there can any one point me in the right direction please.

We purchased our car in October. As I understand it. It has to be re taxed shortly. Will they contact me via email or letter, or is it up to me to get it sorted out ? If so what do I need to do ? Thank you in advance for any help. Geri

You should get a tax bill in the post, having said that we are on our second car and never received a bill in 7 years!!

I use www.suma.es to pay. It's easy enough to do, I just put the car reg in and it comes up with the amount and I pay using my debit card.

You can pay online.

There is a guide here:

I've never received a bill either and that's across 5+ years and about 8 vehicles, it's not as if they don't know my address!

That's why I just go online and pay it.

May 31st is the deadline.

Whomever owns a vehicle on Jan 1st is responsible for paying the tax.

If you don’t manage to set up the payment online, we visited the Suma office ( Playa Flamenca ayunatmiento, first floor) and paid up to date and then set up a DD for future years - we only have a small car so cost is €18 pa

if you do go to the office, get there when it opens at around 8.30 to hopefully not have much of a queue - you take a ticket when you arrive with a number on it for the queue ( at least that was the system just after covid) they were very helpful, but it may be useful to learn a few sentences in Spanish for what you want to do 😀

I emailed the Suma and they replied with the attached email, it states where and what to email and it was all set up and done for me. I didn't have to move from my sofa. Never had an issue, just comes out every year.
