Hi

We purchased a property at the end of October. Can anyone tell me when our first council tax payment will be due and how we are contacted with the bill / invoice to pay ? If not can anyone tell me how I can find out ?

I did post a similar request before and was told it is through a Suma account but I have been on the website and can’t see anything relevant.

Thanks

All payments are made to SUMA and the direct debits came out of the bank at the very end of October this year.

The payment should have been the responsibility of the previous owner and your solicitor will have checked that they made the payment. Usually whoever owns the property on Jan 1st pay the IBI.

I would check with your solicitor to confirm it’s been paid.

The bills usually come out a few months before payment is due and your solicitor may well have set up a direct debit with the suma office, when  he changed over the water and electricity suppliers. Again check with your solicitor.

When you say the bill comes out in advance of payment, how are they sent, paper bill or email ?

thanks !

Bills usually come out by post or can be by email if the Suma have your details.

If you get a paper bill, it looks more like a payslip than an invoice.

It can sometimes be a bit of a lottery as to whether or not you actually receive a bill- welcome to Spain !

Out of all the utilities I would make sure that the water people Hidraqua have your email. If there is excessive usage, they tend to email you in case you have a leak. As a follow on from that make sure your house insurance covers you for water leaks, they should cover you for up to 1000€

Hello

You have put your post on a 2 year old topic about Council Tax.(check the date of last post)

You should start a new topic with your questions re - painter, & hope to get some recommendations.

Cheers
