We are hoping to buy a property in Villamartin and like the local bars/plaza  but we do like a nice walk at the beach - is it really difficult to get taxis to and from Cabo Roig,  La Zenia and Torrievieja?  I have read a few comments that is making me more concerned.  Any numbers much appreciated.  We want to be ab;e to have  meal (with wine!) so don't want to always drive.  Thanks

Hi Almora,

There's an odd situation here because taxi licences are issued by each Town Hall, so if you take a taxi from your municipal area to another area, you cannot pre-book that taxi to collect you for the return journey, you have to book a local taxi instead.

Orihuela Costa has had a particular problem because, historically, insufficient licences have been issued to serve the area and this is exacerbated during high season when there are a lot of tourists here. Orihuela City pledged to rectify this with additional licences, but this was before Covid-19 hit and I haven't seen an update since.

The ways we've found around this is to a) have taxi numbers for areas we travel to regularly, and b) locate the taxi ranks for popular areas.  With a bit of forward planning, it's never been an issue for us.

Kind regards,

Kim
