Yes, they let me keep mine although I would have to be pretty desperate to use it here.

I have been banking with Bankie for approximately 15 years.  I went through my statements and I am being charged 15euor every 2 months.  They charge for literately everything.  I had a standing order for my community fees and they charge 1.50euro every month for this transaction.  I was also in Tenerife on holiday and for the first time I used my bankcard to lift money, they charged me 20euro to lift my own money.  I am a non resident so maybe that has something to do with it. I imagine all banks are the same

Having read all the replies re charges for the differrent banks for non residents, I,m now going to wait and see what Cajamar(Cajarural in some areas) have to offer me

.They have processed the account and the fee is 5€ mnth but free if 1000€ balance is maintained. As I,m not sure if app has an english choice unless once signed in it offers it, then I,m going to have to accept no banks are going to equal Sabadell's expansion account. I do have them debit my Uk account once a quarter so once a month they can debit me with £700 and I,ll arrange a transfer back with transferwise which although their fee is £4 mnth at least its cheaper than my Sabadell fee of 35€ quarter as non resident. The other euro countries incl. Ireland would find that easier as currency being the same so no transfer fee.Of course I,d arrange transfer back next day after debit. I know of a French man who does this successfully. We gotta beat them at this game. Non residents have less transactions and are charged more. Disgusting!

Regards

Pauline.

We tried that with a account with sabadell an account where we put in 700 for free and then returned to uk but we lost a lot on doing it the exchange and the charges cost us much more over a year than the quarterly charges on the expansion key account so we have had to go back to that account

Thanks for sharing that info Vanessa, I will investigate thoroughly if Cajamar turns out to be no better.

Pauline.

Ps. I do think Sabadell is the best bank for english speakers but they certainly charge for that in their fees.

The bank is Cajamar, Caja Rural and theres one in Pinoso. They are rural banks originally set up for farming communities
