Caixa Bank took over Bankia last October.  When they did I got locked out and needed the new app. and all the relevant data/ pass codes.

I happened to be in Spain visiting my flat, and discovered that I couldn't visit my bank without an appointment, which I couldn't get without the app and details.   ONe staff gave me a kindness of handing me a hand written paper with the new data to me at the door. When I got home I  got locked out several times and couldn't access my account.  I wanted to check on my house and contents policy arranged by Bankia way back in 2014, and emailed the bank advisor to ask for help.  I was told Caixa Bank would  not help manage any existing insurance policies, it was not in their remit to help with such things.  I am coming for my community AGM this month.  I arranged to go to meet the bank advisor to try to push for information, all information had been in Spanish back then.  To my horror I found that my 14 years old house insurance policy and contents had not been paid during the take over in October due to 'lack of funds' , the case being I was locked out and they had changed my account number without fore warning. The took no responsibility to inform me in any way, even until two weeks ago when , through my pushing for information,  they discovered my house had been left uninsured since last October.  I asked about my bank life insurance policy arranged by a morgage advisor when she modified the terms of my existing account in 2014. She is clear that a life  policy was included in the Bankia modification and arranged it for me with power of attorny.  Caixa Bank tell me and her they have no evidence of a life  policy and their records only go back to  when they took over. The morgage advisor did it in person, but because of only having to keep her documents for five years, says she can't find the evidence either. I am bewildered because everything is always in Spanish rather than English, and assumed the insurances I paid annually included both house and life. I suddenly find that I have neither since Caixa BAnk took over and they only want to sell their own.  I am working on quoes for house and contents now, but as a non resident , since Brexit , don't think I cab get life insurance now.  The insurance I had was when I was 14 years younger and so was affordable but now I am 67yrs. I face my inheritance for my daughter being destroyed on the basis that if I die, I have suddenly no insurance to cover my morgage.  This is after struggling for 14 years to keep my property and dream alive. It just seems imoral and illegal.. I don't know if there is a body I can turn to  that can help? Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else when banks take over and lose records?

Look through your paperwork you should have papers confirming what you say.As it’s in Spanish you need to pay for translation help to then make a bank appointment with a translator in tow.Sometimes our memory and recollection of events can be a little different to the reality. Its happened to me.Wish you luck.

Thanks for taking the time. You are right this can happen. In this case I have relied on what I was told by the mortgage advisor who represented me using power of attorney. I wasn't present. The same rep confirmed she set it up in person, but over the years has lost all trace. All my insurances were in Spanish and came off once a year for years at the same time. My fault is that I didn't understand by name what was what. Now it appears records to what the advisor set up are lost. I just trusted all that had been confirmed by the advisor was happening, as did she. Just a pity it took a bank take over to make me seek out and question. Caixa Bank had no loyalty to my account and misinformed that all was as expected until March when I requested copies. That is when disintegration set in. Life has changed and I just have to deal with that. But thank you again for your helpful response. Best wishes.

I'm out.

Being in the midst of turmoil and a cataract operation, I apolgisr for not acknowledging your taking the te to respond. I did actually benefit from suggestions re the issue I had with crac 24. Thanks to support from this forum I did get my refund of paent. So thanks for any help given I'm pretty new to using the forum, although bought my property in 2008.

I'm sorry you seem frustrated and angry. Not my intention. I simply ask for help usually as a last resort and in a panic. I think it's really admirable that people, often alone with anxieties can reach out to a community of people sharing inspirational goals. At the same time wanting to contribute support to others. It is a voluntary thing, no one forces us. I suggest if you are bored by apparent repetition or just have nothing to offer a situation you just feel free to pass on the need to comment. I don't think censorship and a ticking off are in line with the goald of the forum, i.e. to be informative and supportive if you have something to offer on a subject. You run the risk of sounding hostile which might put less confident people off and sabotage the purpose of the forum. I'm sure that is not your intention and no harm done. I too can chose how I respond. So in case I missed thanking you before, I do it now. Thanks for caring. Best wishes.

Thanks. Might be worth trying a lawyer.
