It is very easy. I recommend Banco Sabadell. If you Google their website and choose English, you will see that it is in the format that we are used to. They also speak excellent English. We opened a bank account and had our cash point cards within 5 days. They also have many branches. Also, if you have your pension or other income credited to the account every month, there are no bank charges.

Many thanks Sheila. That sounds good. We are going to be in the Villamartin Area so there is bound to be one near. Your advice has been in invaluable. Regards Patrick
I agree with Sheila,
Very attentive and informative.
Another tip ( although not particularly good atm ) use a money company to transfer money over, I secured a lot with them at €1.27 just before the brexit to purchase our apartment, the sale went through after brexit and it plummeted to 1.14 but we had secured the money at 1.27 so saved thousands! We then transferred the remainder to the Spanish bank to pay our utilities for the next year and to buy things we need for the apartment.

Yes, we did the same thing with the money.
Villamartin is a large area. You will notice that there are not the great number of bank branches or ATM's about in this part of Spain, as there are in UK. There is a Sabadell Bank not far from a large Mercadona supermarket. The area comes under Campoamor. It has a very good ATM there. The website tells you where the branches and ATM's are. Most ATM's that are not your bank, charge for withdrawals. So it's always best to use your own bank. I've got used to it now and withdraw a couple of hundred at a time. 600€ a day is the limit. I pay for all shopping using the bank card, so don't have to use cash as often as I did in London.
Best of luck!

I agree that Banco. Sabadell is worth looking into. Their Expansion Account has no fees but you have to credit a monthly figure of €700 to qualify. Their ATM withdrawals & online services are easy to follow in English.
