Hi CaixaBank has several branches in the area - La Zenia, Cabo Roig and San Miguel. I find the staff and La Zenia helpful and there is parking nearby. A Caixa mobile app is available to help you manage your money.
If you want something very local (i.e. walkable) then there is a BBVA in Villamartin itself but I’m not sure about the bank itself.

Before making up your mind consider the high bank charges.

Hi, we already had a property which meant we had a local address but I’m not sure if that is a requirement. What we did need was passport and NIE (Spanish ‘tax’ number).

Hi Lenny
You don't necessarily need a Spanish bank - a number of us on this forum use Wise.com. you could register with Wise today. There is no monthly fee and you'll get the very best exchange rate.
Cheers

We’ve always had account with La Caixa. No problems, very helpful. We don’t seem to pay monthly charges, but obviously pay for using facilities such as bank transfers etc. Also a fee for debit card when renewed. Our local branch seems to be most helpful, as although like most banks now, one is expected to use their machine for most transactions, providing their internal door is open, one may just wander in and wait till the staff are free, to actin anything slightly more complicated or to make an enquiry.

Do yourself a favour and don't open a Spanish bank account unless you want lots of charges. Open something like a Revolut account which is how I run my Spanish house

Hi Lenny
If your moving permanently then I would say yes get a Spanish account, if its a holiday home then open a Wise account as the charges to have a Spanish account are ridiculous.
We had an account with Sabadell they were fine everything ran smoothly the time we were with them there is a BBVA bank at the Plaza it maybe worthwhile calling in to see them as it would be handy for you.
Good luck
