Charges referred to in previous post.

Take NIE certificate, passport and utility bills showing your respective account details for switching.

My advice is don't close your original account until you can see all payments are being taken from the new account.

good advice. thanks.

did you also go into sabadell to tell them you were doing this or just leave bankinter to do the switch themselves?

****Update: Since writing the reply to follow, I am sad to say that whilst my early impressions of Bankinter (at Los Dolces) were highly favourable, I now need to similarly 'de-recommend' them. Where there is an issue... they repeatedly ignore emails. Right up to Sub-Director level. Appallingly disrespectful.*****

***

I replied some time ago to this in regard to my less than satisfactory service from Sabadell over the last nearly 4 years.

I have found them to be aloof, miserable, often disobliging, very expensive, issuers of a debit card that incapacitates itself instantly if you ever put it with your other cards in your phone wallet: it thereafter blocks ATM use at best..

BUT... I made mention also of my early, far more charming and professional experiences with Bankinter, at Los Dolces.

More competitive also (in essence, €85 pr year as compared to €140 with Sabadell for a basic, single account with a debit card), friendly too, - palpable as soon as you enter the branch, as opposed to the odd coldness of Sabadell branches and most of the staff I have had dealings with.. oh, and they are competent.

Bankinter 'manages, advises, reassures, concludes.' It's mission statement written on the outside of its Los Dolces branch is holding true. Sabadell left me to find my own answers time and again. They do not assist.

There's more!

.. I just have to add this.. Having now got all my payments transferred to Bankinter, I was yesterday able to close my account with Sabadell (La Zenia.) I admit I was looking forward to it.

Not even the remotest semblance of regret on the part of the teller, not a chance of thanking me for my service.. nor a sliver of any interest being displayed as to why I was leaving... it was the usual and now final discourtesy from Sabadell.

I had the last word. I found myself asking 'Not interested why I am closing my account?'

It was met with the idiosyncratic, unsmiling apathy I had come to know so well.

The fella's absolute silence summed it up rather neatly. It also answered my admittedly facitious question rather poetically. Like some muted sonnet of a hubris.

But, perhaps I had foreseen the response?

No words needed, then!

I assure you.. I won't be back! Not that they give a damn. Just look at their reviews on Trustpilot.

OUCH!

Unfortunately my representatives flatly refused to even try and figure out any other way to pay for my property.  I also understand they financially benefitted from directing me to banco Sabadell. All very poor service and a tortuous experience. But at that point one is so far along the process there are very few options. Sorry to be a downer! Best of luck :-)
