I went back to UK for few days, set my mobile phone to airplane mode, now I have a message on screen which says SIM locked and asking for pin number, emergency calls only.
Any idea what I do to sort this out.
Thanks in advance.

Never had pin, tried usual factory setting pin, no luck.
Ok. I´m sure someone will come up with a sensible reply. (not me) If the factory pin does not work 1st time,,,,, don´t try it more than twice (pos block).... Can you find a child of tender years. (11 or less) They normally sort my probs in less than 3 seconds. Sorry not much help.

If it's a Spanish SIM then depending on your deal it may be that it simply does not have roaming so won't work in UK.
I've experienced that with prepay SIMs from both Orange and Movistar.
Is this your first time in UK with it?

In many instances the original supplied PIN is only needed once when activating a new SIM and is not actually a SIM lock, are you sure you didn't PIN protect the SIM yourself ?
The real mystery here though is why simply turning Airplane mode on and off again has triggered a demand for a PIN because that is not normal behaviour. Even that's a stretch though as the only time a SIM lock PIN should be required is if you switch the phone off completely or remove and refit the SIM.
Considering that you turned Airplane mode on in Spain then off after arriving in UK I'm wondering if what it's actually asking for is a PIN to activate roaming as with some providers that is an optional service which needs to be authorised so the question about the provider (and deal) could be the key.

Thanks in advance.
Try The Dog and Bone phone shop just down from the Taxi Rank at La Zenia roundabout on the N332 in the commercial centre where the Randy Leprachaun Pub is located, they do phone repairs and unlocking.

I do not have the first idea how to pin lock the SIM, and if by some way I have it is entirely a fluke.
Think I'll pop into Orange tomorrow.
Thanks for replying 🙂
