Has anybody had any dealings with Avatel Telecom.

We are looking to to have internet installed at our apartment in El Mirador.

We tried Ole communications today but they don’t have a fibre ring at our area, we were looking for a speed of 300-600MB but Ole to their credit offered us a speed (probably through copper) which wouldn’t work for us.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

 Jim

Hi Jim! I have Avatel in old Mirador by Eagles Nest; I’m fully satisfied with Wi-Fi for internet, streaming etc - works brilliant with on/off ”pay per day” when I’m in Spain. Had my own receiver on the roof installed and a router inside for about 120 Eu last year; very good service!

Pete

Because that was offered by OLE communications if they had the fibre link, which obviously they don’t. Why wouldn’t you want the fastest download speed available?

Hi Lisa

Thanks for your helpful comments, hopefully we will get a provider to supply a good download Spain but we will email Avatel today.

Many thanks

Well of course everybody wants the best speed they can get but in truth 20mb or so is probably more than adequate for 3/4 of users.

In UK the definition of 'superfast broadband' is anything above 30mb!

In real world terms what is it you think you'd be able to do with 300mb that you couldn't with whatever it was you were offered by Ole?
Sounds like there may be no fibre in your area anyway in which case you're going to have to set your sights much lower than 300—600mb.

They have Office at La Zenia Boulevard. You can see prices ”pay per day” here; https://www.internetpordias/

Hope to see you in Mirador! 😄

Thanks all for your comments and information.

My first post might be misleading. I was looking for fibre to at least outside the apartment and looking for as big allowance (unlimited would have been good) data package wise in Spain. Avatel do not have a fibre ring that reaches our apartment, I have been informed by them this morning. Back to the drawing board but my UK phone does give me unlimited data in the UK but gives me 20GB in Spain, might use the phone as a hot spot in Villamartin from now on if we can’t get a suitable package. Thanks again.

Regards

hi jimmy

i get in the UK 100gb on my mobile a month but when roaming in europe that is capped at 15gb. that's plenty for checking emails and facebook etc but if you are planning to use it as a hotspot for watching TV it will soon go as watching a football match in HD is vitually 1gb on it's own!

Thanks Tony, I will use my mobile to watch a few games when I am over next week. I have unlimited in the UK but only 20GB in Spain. Cheaper for me to use my mobile in Spain, just need to be careful how we use it. Thanks again for your useful comments.
