Hi there. Just moved to Villamartin and need Internet and UK TV. Can anyone recommend a provider for both or is it better to use separate COMPANIES for each one.

Has anyone had any experience with paying a one off fee of 299 for TV set up with no monthly fees.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, it is better to separate out TV & internet.

This is because we are not in the UK & assumed you want a good UK TV service. Some local internet providers do offer TV (mainly Spanish) & those who do offer TV, that are Spanish companies - offer a secondary service at best, not enough content/channels etc.

Internet - find the fastest local provider. Telfy might be quite good in your location.

TV - this depends on what you are looking for - if free to air, then a satellite dish will give you all the freesat type channels, without ongoing subscription. However you will not get catchup services from satellite in Spain - just the live TV channels. Costs around €299 for the dish/LNB/cabling etc (you may need a receiver on top of this). There are different grades of dish available and despite 1.4 metres being the minimum requirement (size of dish), it is still close to the edge of the signal - so avoid cheap dishes.

If wanting premium content - sports/films etc and other on-demand type of content & catch up services, then this is usually done via IPTV & there are a huge spread of services, both hardware and performance of service.

We can offer general advice on all of the above and offer these services & are a long established local & legal company.  [email protected] for more information if you require, or please leave a phone number (not on the forum - message/email) and we can have a technician give you a call.

Hi

I’m in villamartin and would definitely recommend separate tv and internet. Internet can be patchy depending on where you are in villamartin and you don’t want your tv to be buffering whilst trying to watch. We first had internet only and it was really bad-swopped  and got satellite and sky dish and get about 150 free channels with no issues. Our satellite installation was about €200 2 years ago so price seems about right but make sure it includes sky receiver

The free 150 channel option seems good. Who is the company and how can you contact. I am only a weekender apertment owner and coming over this weekend and want to book in installation for when I next travel back in January. Any suggestions please. Thanks

Diedre - you can't have a 1.4-metre satellite dish which is the minimum you need for €200 installed - it costs more than that trade, I know i've been to the wholesalers & distributors!  Unless they did you a deal based on the amount ON TOP of what you had installed previously?

Costs usually around €300 for the correct quality dish install.  People will recommend Famaval, is ok at this size - Tecatel better. Tested them all.  Look to pay around €300 for good quality dish, with high-end LNB & copper core cable. ASK WHAT IS BEING INSTALLED - LNB, should be Inverto Black Ultra or BEST twin - both known best performing with the weak signal on the offset dish type - 3 x the price of the cheap LNB's.

There are plenty of cowboys (read illegal workers/companies advertising in the local papers) cutting corners - and what people are not aware of is that the dish sizes recommended 1.35-1.4 are a minimum & we do get a degree of signal variation at different times of year - meaning - if some cowboy installs a cheap dish, cheap LNB, cheap cable - the end result is a signal 1dB + less than a well-done job = breaking up reception certain channels/times/time of year. Whilst we do not get 100% of what we do in the UK, it is best to use solid equipment as at this size/level - cutting corners will affect performance.

A dish will give you the cheapest way of getting the UK Free to air / Freesat channels, but don't expect the type of online/Freesat/Sky functionality - as in Spain these functions are geographically locked. If you want the online type of features such as catch up, films & series on demand as well Freesat and additional live channel content, then IPTV offers these type of features.

[email protected] - www.televisiontechnology.eu    are one of the longest established companies in the area - and install/maintain all systems private, community, fibre, cable, Satellite, IPTV etc.
