Question probably for the more techy TV types. We are part of a communal plot that has UK TV ( the main ones, BBC1,2, ITV, Channel 4,5) included in our package, amongst various other European channels. My wife is hard of hearing and can only watch TV with the subtitles on. Try as I might, I can’t find an option on the TV or remote, to switch subtitles on.

Is this simply because my tv/remote is not up to it, or is it because you simply can’t get subtitles over here in Spain to the English telly?

Anyone else able to get subtitles?

Thanks

Direct from satellite, using the likes of a Sky, Freesat or other satellite receiver, you will have subtitles on all the main UK TV channels, accessible via a button on the remote for that device. On some Tvs with satellite receiver you may have to press a few buttons. You do not have to go to any separate channel for subtitles.

If you are watching via another form of distribution, ie rebroadcast or internet, then it is up to the provider who usually will provide subtitles on a separate channel, if indeed they actually do this.

So it may help if you say how you are getting your channels, and using what type of box.

Thanks for the info. I'm not back in Spain for another few weeks, but there definitely is no set top box, just an aerial feed. We have no dish on the house, just part of a communal area.

In which case it sound slike you are on a communal feed system, so simply get they the "pump" out to you....so no subtitles.
