I am new to all this, but it seems we need to have wifi to be able to use a firestick for UK Tv channels?
Would having a smart TV be the best?

I think that a smart tv in Spain will only pick up Spanish TV channels, and for the standard UK channels you will need a sat dish or IPTV

Help I am totally confused
Yes you need the internet with a good constant download speed to get decent quality tv service otherwise it will be continually buffering (freezing up)
If you have internet installed the supplier can often install or recommend UK TV.
I have high speed internet and I've purchased my UK TV service through "tvmucho" which is available through Google apps.

You can install a dish for a one off payment . We paid about 300€ two years ago. This gives you most English channels without the need for wifi

Yeah, we did the same a few years back, brought over an old sky + box which works fine, sometimes though after returning from a few months away we were hit with the “no signal” message, which then required the dish to be realigned and, in one case, the LNB had to be replaced. Small issues due to the hot weather and sporadic storms I guess, all resolved at the time by a neighbour who knew how to realign and diagnose the faulty LNB
