Good evening everyone,

We are a retired couple who are hoping to buy a town house in villamartin,  we will not have a car and we would like some advice as to the best location that would be about 10 mins walking to the plaza, (without being too close,)  near to bus stops, etc. There seems to be a lot of properties for sale, but its very difficult if you don't know the area, or where the urbanizations are situated within villamartin.

Thank you

Regards

Roxy

Parts of Villamartin are very hilly, so you need to bear that In mind if you are planning on walking everywhere. I think you’ve also only got one supermarket within that 10 minute walk to the Plaza.

You need to get a feel for the area, by renting first, before you buy. You may find some areas fairly quiet in the winter months, even though there are a good number of residents, but then the same can be said for a lot of areas.  The Plaza itself is generally fairly quiet during the day, but busier of a night time. Not sure how the entertainment problem will affect the bars/restaurants this summer. It certainly won’t have the same buzz as in previous non covid times.

Hi Roxy

Obviously personal opinion is going to vary hugely, but from what I know of our time in the area, and thinking of your requirements, I'd look at urbanisations that are handy for the Plaza, Los Dolses, or La Fuente.

Valencias urb is very close to Loa Dolses, which has 2 commercial centres, so plenty of choices for places to eat and drink. There is also a decent sized supermarket called Dialaprix. The plaza would be 10-12 mins walk.

Las Violetas is handier for the Plaza (3-4 mins) but the supermarket at the Plaza is smaller.

I'm sure some other helpful members will be along with suitable suggestions.

Best wishes in your search, it's an exciting move!

Hi

We are renting in los dolses at present near Calle Alcatraz and have a car. Can walk to Xenia boulevard in 15-20 mins. Other direction there are restaurants/bars etc inc supermarket also walkable in similar time gradual uphill walk but not too difficult. All slightly downhill on the return. Villamartin plaza is 30 min walk, again most is fairly flat. I would say bicycles are a good investment in this area and lots of people seem to have them as the tracks and terrain are mostly flat. It’s a good location for accessing local bars/food etc near la zenia and not far to zenia beach, prob 30-40 min walk. Can’t comment on buses as not sure there are any near us. Buses to the plaza. Anyone know if they go there? Hope this helps.

Hi

Re buses - there is a minibus that runs from La Zenia Boulevard, through Villamartin, to La Fuente and Cabo Roig. However it is infrequent and doesn't run late at night or at weekends (except in summer). http://costazul.net/lineas-urbanas/c-c-la-zenia-boulevard-c-de-salud-aguamarina/

Re supermarkets - there is a small but very well stocked supermarket at the Plaza.

When we first came to Spain we lived just a few metres from the Plaza without a car - and found it wasn't at all to our liking, especially when it went dead in winter!

Cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for your response. Thats good to know. As we won't have a car, having transport links and amenities nearby is very important to us.
