Hi

We are finalising our purchase of a holiday home property in Valencias North in a few weeks time - to start with we won't have a car and wondered what the bus routes were like - i.e  to La Zenia boulevard / getting to beach / going into Torrevieja etc. Or are there plenty of taxis available.

Thank you

Public transport in Villamartin is somewhere between non existent and unreliable. Taxis are available at the Plaza albeit a tad expensive.

There are 2 bus routes, the red line and the blue line. The red line goes between La Zenia Boulevard and Torrevieja Hospital, the blue line between La Zenia Boulevard and Cabo Roig (by the doctors/medical centre). The busses are weekdays only and run every hour and a half, but are very reliable. The blue line has a stop at Villamartin Plaza. All the stops and times are on a timetable that can be got at the Boulevard at the Information desk. They also have the timetable for the bus which goes to Torrevieja bus station. Good luck.

You are very welcome. I live in Playa Flamenca and also am without a car, so I have had to use busses and taxis for over a year now. You get used to it. Also, compared to London the taxi fares are cheap. However, I do hope to get a car now. A year of doing lots of walking has convinced me!

By the way, on the red and blue lines it is a set fare wherever you are going, so you don't need to tell the driver. It's 95cents for pensioners, and about 1.25 normal. It's a small bus which is part of the Costa Azul bus routes.

Hi, we bought a property in Valencias North and I had the same problem, no car and trying to work out the bus timetable! The taxi rank is opposite the plaza and you just have to stand and wait for one to come along. It costs between €6-7 to the the boulevard and beach. I took a photo of the blue line bus route whilst on the bus as it's easier to work out than the bus stop sign.

Also get back on the bus where you got off, don't cross the road. The bus does a loop route.

Just to let you know that a new bus time table came out that gives the times for every stop. It is much easier to understand. Although the bus runs on a loop, the return journey goes a different route, as you will see by the stops on the time table. I use taxis all the time, and just call their number, from home, shopping, anywhere. They usually arrive within 5 minutes, but of course charge an extra euro for the pick up.
