I have a new apartment in la zenia/villamartin area. Just had 10 days holiday. Travelled from UK Gatwick to Alicante. Flight was excellent. EasyJet was clean and organised. At Alicante airport was straightforward and just had to show health form we completed online. Everywhere was open. Taxi drivers helpful. Strict about masks more so than in UK. We felt thoroughly safe and had great time.  On arriving home at Gatwick airport despite filling in quarantine form no one asked to see anything and went straight through passport and custom controls. Some people had not even filled in the online form although EasyJet did remind passengers.   Strange.

Anyhow despite this will be coming back at end of September.  Thoroughly enjoy my holidays and as a responsible person I keep safe.

I hope for everyone in Spain that life soon recovers as I know it is difficult for businesses without the visitors.

Yes now self isolating. Not too bad as I am retired and can do some work from home.  However feel great and no signs of infection.

I'm glad you had a good experience going to, and while in Spain, worrying (and quite telling) about non collection of forms on arrival back in the UK.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I think as the information is filled in online that you may still be contacted.

On arriving back to Manchester they asked us to have our form ready as we walked through a corridor to passport control but once that person saw we had the correct form we didn’t have to hand it in or show it to anyone in any detail.

I was actually called the next day to confirm we knew what we had to do re the quarantine and advised not to contact 111 or 999 (if emergency) and not even go to our doctor or chemist etc.

All in all for us the system seemed to be in place.

Hi we should be coming over end of August but found out our insurance will not cover us as fco don't advise people to go. How did you manage? Were you insured? Thanks. Pam

We got insurance through Rock Insurance and also I think Staysure which covers you and includes Covid 19.  If you already have insurance you could take out insurance for just this trip. Might be worth doing search of internet to find travel insurers who cover you for Spain plus Covid 19.

The FCO advice is not to travel, it is advice not mandatory. I believe we have to start getting back to normal and getting on with our lives. Going to Spain or France should be no more dangerous than going shopping in Newark or Leicester, if people act properly and take all the usual precautions regarding hand-washing, sanitiser, masks. I would avoid high contagion areas in any country unless there are compelling reasons. The infection rates in the Costas are equal or less than most low risk UK locations. Anyone travelling MUST obey the local government rules in all countries, before and after travel.

That is my view, I don't believe I am ignorant or selfish but others may differ. The key is to act sensibly wherever you are. Apologies in advance my this view upsets anyone.

Rgds,

Aitch.
