Buying a Spanish registered car in UK to use in spain

How much does it cost to register a LHD car if I buy and drive it over from UK.
If it has Spanish number plates.
What should I be aware of if It do this.
Can be risky unless you know for absolute certain that everything is kosher with the car which in most cases is extremely difficult to determine from UK.
Don't be blinded by the simple fact that it's sporting Spanish plates or trust a dealer who's only interest is in selling the car and won't care what happens beyond that.
Worst case scenario you could land up with a car which you can neither drive or sell!

I may help you to have a look at the N332 website which is run for English speaking people. The site, and their Facebook page, is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

You'll probably need to employ a gestor to assist with the transfer of ownership with the DGT in Spain. The transfer tax is around 4% to 6% of the official valuation of the car. Be aware that all fines & penalties become the liability of the new owner, hence the need for caution.
Getting insurance could be problematic, unless you manage to transfer the ownership before driving to Spain.
Does the vehicle have a valid ITV? MOT would be no good for Spanish registered vehicle.
