Car transfer tax

Hi Kim, I’ve looked at the relevant Jim’s Guides, he has the transfer fee as €54 and that is the fee that I was quoted €108 for - I was wondering if it had gone up slightly, but I’ll be looking into using another gestor if they think they can just make up such a charge! 
I've called two other companies and have been quoted €210 and €240 in total, as opposed to the €300 i was originally quoted. Definitely worth calling around.

Just a thought - are you having the car put into one name or two?  Just seems a bit of a coincidence that 2 x Eu 54 is Eu 108?  Without reading Jim's guide again myself, I can't remember whether the fee is per person, or per car registration.  Although, as you say, if you've obtained cheaper overall quotes for the same service elsewhere, it's worth using them instead.

Yes Ray, that is the sales tax amount.
In addition there is a transfer fee (in Jim’s guide it is quoted as €54) 

Due to the age and type of car, I work out the sales tax to be approx €42. 

Then, on top of that there is the gestor’s fee - which is why I think they have been a little vague and on the pricey side. 

I use a Gestoria in San Pedro, gestoria berna they've always been the cheapest I've found. I was told that there is a price difference between Murcia and Alicante too, Murcia being the cheaper one.

The fee is €54.60.

I think they were trying to be a bit too sneaky and roll all the ‘set’ charges into one (and a bit). 

Hello, I have done this twice myself and is very easy to do at playa Flamenco traffic office. Make an appointment at the traffic office (they speak English), they will also give you a form telling you charges and the documents you will need to bring both buyer and seller. On appt day both the seller and buyer attend with NIE passport . They take you into a room and you wait whilst they input all data on computer. You leave their office with everything legal.
