Pre ITV car checks

Can anyone recommend a garage which will perform pre ITV check on a uk registered vw Golf I am re-registering in Spain. Thanks in advance

Don’t go to the car spares shop in Los Dolses, cost me 190 for the pre and itv, the previous year I took it myself and it was 37 euros for itv.

Personally, I wouldn't go with this type of thing at all.
Just throw it straight in for the ITV or get someone who knows a bit about cars to take a look. If you live here, you surely know someone who has a clue and if not, ask around in a local pub, in return for a drink.
Most stuff is just common sense, ie lights, horn, tyres, no brake or steering problems etc.
If the obvious is okay, I'd just go for it.
I took my old jalopy for an ITV a couple of months back for the first time and it strikes me that the rules aren't as tight as at home.

And as long as you have no major faults that make the car dangerous, you get time to remedy things;

Gives a quick sum up. Just be aware that driving without an ITV will leave you open to a fine.

Hi Chris,
if you are registering the car in Spain are you using someone to do this?
I have a RHD car that I swopped onto Spanish plates some years ago, the company that did this changed the headlights and the rear fog light. As part of their service they had the car ITV'd which had to be done before the Spanish plates could be fitted as well as a EU compliance check, can't remember what that was called. The car also needs to display speed in KPH somehere on the speedometer otherwise a speedo change.
If the requirements above have been done and you just need a ITV test then like Badger I go to San Javier ITV station, so easy, you hand the car over they take it through the testing and hand it back. I would not worry about a pre-test but worth checking the basics yourself. lights, tyres, etc. Note that you should have the same type of tyre on each axle - brand/model/size/etc - the tyres on the front axle and the back axle can be different but not on each axle.
If the car fails the test they give a period of time for the faults to be rectified, they will tell you the timeframes at the test station (I've never had a failure in around 5 or 6 ITV tests so I'm not exactly sure how that works).
