Hi, as the title suggests I am looking to insure my 24 year old son on my Spanish car for a week in August, I've tried my insurance company in Spain but as he is under 25 they won't touch him. I've found a company online that will insure him but they need a NIE or a NIF number, as he has never paid tax or applied for a NIE number he obviously hasn't got one. Any constructive advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not for a Spanish car, no.

I’d say if your own company won’t do it for you then it’s unlikely any insurer would risk it for one week. You could try Abbeygate Insurance company who do unusual policies & they might know if it’s possible

I did think about rental but even the local firms I've had quotes from in the recent past were ridiculously priced, hence me buying my own car in Spain, many thanks for your suggestion though.
He can get an NIE from his nearest Spanish Consulate in the UK; London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

Prices are crazy altogether & are unlikely to go down, you were right to buy. I have seen a few come & go advertising older cars for hire on Facebook but I’ve no personal experience whatsoever with them. Some seem to disappear after a short while. Age 25 does seem to be a cut-off with many Spanish insurers.

Hi. My car is insured through Jennifer Cunningham who use Liberty Seguros. I enquired about in insuring my soon and my car who is under 25 for a couple of weeks and it wasn’t going to be a problem, just an additional fee to cover it.
