Hello

You have to actually  live here & be able to prove that you live here via activity on your spanish  bank statements ,registering on the  padron etc. to apply/ qualify for a TIE (residencia).   There are other things you would also need to produce....1 year full comprehensive Private Health Insurance or an S1 form from the UK if you are receiving a UK pension to allow you access to  the spanish health system.

Cheers

Sorry to say your plan is totally flawed.

elinspain has given you a comprehensive answer.

You have to be living here to apply for residency!

Hi Vanessa

As Steve and El have suggested, this sounds very much “ eleventh hour” stuff. Without wishing to be rude, it appears that you’ve done little in terms of residencia requirement research. This is a life changing decision, and perhaps it needs a more proactive approach than wondering if this will allow you to stay for longer than 183 days in one period.

Staying for 183 plus days, you become fiscally accountable to Spain. Add to this the need for health care provision, and the demonstration that you are financially independent and it starts to stack up to being something rather more serious than staying for a “long holiday” 🤪🥂

Hello thank you for that

Yes to all questions I own, I have a bank account, and over 70 last time over first week in Feb.

I understand I needed to reside in my Spanish home  for three months this year to apply but there has been the Covid so like many others in my position have not been able to get to Spain since March as I myself high risk was isolating, tried since July only to have flights cancelled

Hence my question could I do it from here.

Re the 90 day rule I have like thousands of other second homers hope Spain doesn’t not implement ( as they never did before even though uk was not in the sheghen)  it would stop us spending winter in Spain, which will have a bad effect on housing market as will put people off from buying be cheaper to rent if they can only stay 3mths, ( which would probably be uk home owners in Spain will benefit)

so again Spain will lose revenue, and the lose of revenue from all the second homers  in Spain would recieve over the six months they spend overwintering in Spain.

I just hope sense prevails and uk and Spain get an agreement, so everyone benefits.

Hi Vanessa

You are not too late if you can get over in November to set things in motion.  You need a Padron from the town hall and for this you have to go in person with passport and proof of home ownership.  There is now an appointment system in place so it might take a bit of time.  You need S1 from Newcastle and bank statements from Spanish bank which have to be stamped by bank.  You need proof of income and also a certain amount in the bank.

My gestor in Playa Flamenca is still accepting applications for residencia.  If you email them they will advise you.  European Advisors & Services.  [email protected].

Good luck.

Vanessa, you have explained your situation very well. There must be a magnitude of British second home owners just like you. They are not just ‘holiday homes’. The long term effects on the economy here will be devastating. Let’s hope the powers that be will eventually come up with a solution. I wish you all the luck.

Thank you so much you sound so positive that’s nice to hear, hopefully, my  flight will not again be cancelled and I will get out by November, but my stumbling block will be the three months I need to stay before applying

But  I may try anyway, do you know is it possible to get an appointment online before I leave ready for Nov

Cheers

Thank you Sheila you sound so much more positive for us second homers who would like to spend winter in Spain, I have had some views that came across negative for second homers, which is such a shame as we do help the economy, but for many reasons cannot reside full time in Spain

Thank you for your wishes I am sure there are many thousands like me need than at the minute cheers
