Who knows? If anyone has a crystal ball perhaps they could help - I can't.

People were buying dwellings in Spain long before the E.U. was in existence and I expect that they will in the future. However, I don't know what future residence requirements might be - anyone who tells you that they do is wrong.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the subsidised high pressure trips. Do your research first then arrange some cheap flights and  cheap hotel (or two to cover different areas), hire a car and look around. You can always arrange to see individual houses etc when you are here. Don't make yourself a hostage to one agent.

The issue for me isn't buying before Brexit it is the value of the pound.

If you buy now while the pound has no value..you risk the pound significantly increasing and this could mean you overpay for the house.

But this only applies if you sell the property.  It's not a big deal but something worth considering.

With regards to the £99 viewing trips. Avoid like the plague do it yourself and "own" the process

Also consider long term rental which gives you the chance to live here and continue browsing other areas to be sure where you want to live.  Your capital will be gaining interest which pays towards the rent. No buying or selling costs.

do your research around hiring a car, there is plenty of advice  on here.

I would say come over and find an area you want to live in .

Rent a house in that area and try and visit in every season whilst house hunting.

Talk to locals remembering every one wants you to think they made the right decision. so you need to find out the pros and cons.

consider inland and coast, as the problems can be different.

It seems to me that the best places to live are kept a secret by the expats who live there,

It is all about research so when you come over you are using your time to maximum effect.

Car hire ...be very carefull there , Dickmans , and a few others , take a 1000€ deposit BUT hold onto that money for 6 weeks ,and will give you all sorts of excuses , it’s the banks fault , not ours etc , and keep your dinero for as long as they can .

I know this cos I hired a car and needed to keep it for another week longer , they in turn renewed my contract , AND took another 1000€ ,it took me 8 weeks to get 2000€ refunded ...avoid like the plaque !

Others take 1000€ but refund immediately when returning the car in good condition

Take care
