Hi all I am trying to find out what you have to do at passport control when visiting Spain with my wife who has an irish passport and mine is a British passport. Do we go in different queues or same one will my passport be stamped. While staying at our Holiday home am I still governed by the 90 days in 180 (by that I mean can I go with my wife for 90 days go home to England then go back a week later for another 90 days) any info or advice from anyone who travels this way with a spouse on an irish passport would be very much appreciated. TIA 😊

I'm an Irish passport holder and my wife is a UK one. Last time at Alicante airport we were flying back to Dublin. I joined the EU queue and I tried to take my wife through too, but they turned her away and told her to go to the UK queue. I tried showing them our marriage certificate but they weren't interested.

When we travel we take our marriage certificate too in case there is any issue. We have never had a problem so far, and have travelled together in the EU - the Netherlands didnt have an issue, and there was no issue on entering Spain the last time, but they wouldnt let us through together on exit. I think it depends on what official you get

Thanks for the reply. Our worry is that we don't what to do at passport control do we say I'm travelling with my wife, daughter we show passports together and does my passport get stamped and my wife's doesn't! We are going in June but don't know how to approach the passport checking side of it 😔 and what to say to the officials

As it is the EU the Irish passport won't get stamped, but the UK one will get stamped.

Is the EU passport check an automatic passport scan? It's possible that she was directed to the UK (3rd country) passport control in order to stamp her UK passport. It doesn't make any difference while she's travelling with you.
