Passports
Check your passport expiry date if it is due to run out in the next year. The eu look at the issue date and go back 6 months from the issue date not the expiry date. Don't get court out like I nearly did.

Bit mixed up with that statement, but
I think what you are trying to say is that The EU only recognise a travel document from third country nationals which is valid for 10 years from the date of issue. So pre 2018 if you applied early to renew your passport the additional months were added on, meaning that your passport would have a validity of longer than 10 months, these additional months are no longer valid for travel to the EU
On top of this Spain say you must have 6 months left on your passport to travel into the country.
So if you are planning to travel on your passport to Spain then you must check that your travel date is within the period of 9 years and 6 months after the issue date otherwise you need a new passport.

Your passport can be used to travel to other counties outside of the EU up to the date of the additional expiry (subject to individual country requirements) and can be used to travel into the U.K. up to midnight on its expiry date
