Hi Everybody,

Ultimately i am thinking of purchasing a villa with pool, hopefully in the El Galan area of Villamartin.

Firstly for anyone that lives in this area, feedback would be good

Secondly, can anyone tell me what the approximate weekly/monthly running costs of a small pool would be

Regards

Shane

Ref the pool, ours is only a small one. I've never tried to quantify it, but there are several categories for costs.

Chemicals - I'd guess less than €5 a month.

Electricity for running the pump - impossible to say; it depends on how much current a particular pump draws, and how many hours a day you run it.

Water - depends on two things - temperature, and how exposed the pool is to breezes, which increase evaporation. In hot weather, our pool can go down about 1 cm per day, but in the winter I may have to drain some off because of rainfall.

Scheduled maintenance - there's weekly maintenance like checking and changing the chemical balance, and vacuuming. Costs nothing if you DIY.

Other maintenance - every few years, you should change the sand in the filter and get the tiles re-grouted. You may also get a leak or pump failure etc.
