Has anyone else had a letter entitled
ASUNTO: ACUERDO INCOACIÓN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA CANCELACIÓN DE LA INSCRIPCIÓN Y BAJA EN EL REGISTRO DE TURISMO DE LA VIVIENDA TURISTICA
My Spanish is not great and even with google translate it is very confusing - is it something to be concerned about e.g are they going to cancel tourist licenses?

If you already have a tourist licence it looks as though the are advising it is going to be cancelled.
Maybe there was some certificates that were not provided (electricity safet, etc)

It seems that they are looking at all of the licenses from older to newer and each community will need to vote at lest a 2/3 majority to allow tourist licenses. Then a fairly lengthy process to grant renewal. Spoke to an agent who says it is ruining their business as many communities are voting against and others don’t want the expense and hassle. This will soon seriously affect tourism numbers in the Comunidad and bars, restaurants etc will feel the pinch.

Unless the legislation is enforced, all it will do is result in people using illegal lets as opposed to legal ones.
Am sure if you asked the average Joe on the street whether they knew a Spanish property needed a tourist licence and an NRA number (and what they looked like) they wouldn't.
They also wouldn't be aware of the differing rules between regions whereby a tourist let can be a different number of nights depending where it is in Spain.
There is a big difference between sensible devolution of power and idiotic ones - and tourist letting is an idiotic one as a tourist would expect the law to apply equally to Galicia as it would to Valencia.
Anyhow, poltical moaning point over for the day!

The agent tells me the issue is that properties cannot be advertised on any of the sites such as Booking.com without quoting the number- but yes there will be more direct bookings done on the side.
