Hi can anyone tell me the rough cost of having an air con unit serviced.

If you have the installation manual for the unit read what maintenance is required, generally it is just cleaning filters which can be done quite easily. Our oldest a/c unit was installed in 2018 and has never had any attention, though it is a second home and we are only there 4-5 months a year.

We had ours serviced. Think it was about 90 Euro per unit, but they were very honest and also told us there isn’t really anything to service if it’s working ok. They just clean it as mentioned above.

I have worked in the industry for almost 40 years .
different levels of service .
annually we would remove filters, vacuum and spray indoor units with envirocoil and indoor units with codencide solution. Physical checks for obvious operational errors and refrigerant leaks .
Every 3-5th year dependent on use. This would involve a full strip down of the units both indoor and outdoor giving a more thorough clean in addition to the aforementioned.
check for refrigerant levels, leaks and renew any damaged or sun perished insulation. And other issues. We would also wax and polish outdoor unit casings.

How much would the maintenance schedule you describe cost over say, a 5 year period? Would be useful to know if it is cost effective versus not getting it done and buying new unts when the old ones fail.
