Hi there my house is needing some internal paintwork done and also the external window bars. I've been told that if I do this myself the local paint is not great. Any recomendations about buying internal white glossy paint and also black paint for window bars?

Just as in the UK, you get what you pay for. If you buy a good brand like Titan or Xylazel, I'm sure you'd be pleased with the results.

Some of our rejas and a gate were painted with Titan Titanlux Gloss before we moved in, so more than twelve years ago, and I've never needed to even touch them up.

If you'd rather use Hammerite for your rejas, then you can buy it here. It's OK for use at this time of year, but if you're using it in summer then it dries far too quickly and you can't avoid brush marks. The Spanish equivalent is Oxirite, which I prefer to Hammerite, as it dries more slowly.

If you want to keep with known paints, then there used to be a shop in Quesada which sold Dulux - don't know if they're still there. I also don't know if they sold Dulux trade paints, which is much better than the ordinary retail ones.

Agree with that.  I painted my balustrades and window bars.  Got the paint from the paint shop on the Formentera road from Rojales.  Paint was Spanish and as good as anything I have used in the UK.

So go to a specialist shop and ask for advice..

I'm sure Mike is talking about Brochacolor beside the indoor market. That's where I buy all my paints.

Related, but off-topic, if you want a good emulsion, I recommend the Adoral monocapa that Brochacolor sell. It's suitable for interior and exterior, one coat covers, and you don't need a paint roller tin as the tubs of paint have this built in, so less mess, less wastage, and less cleaning.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thats the one near the auctions.  Sorry only been out there a few times...  I will get there.

But the ladies in there know their paint and thats a fact.  So I have now bought Spanish balustrade paint (Amazing job), spanish metal paint, (Better than uk stuff), interior emulsion (Spanish and very good) and exterior wall paint for the brown piece round the windows.   All superb.

Before going though I always ask my neighbours as they also have years of experience...
