Paolo, your statement that the answer to the question put by the OP. Had been answered within the first few posts is as I have previously explained  factually most  incorrect,  Many opinions were in fact voiced including one by myself and one by you.,but they were not backed up by official legislation referral and as the issue revolved around whether it was legal or not to undertake a certain action then random opinions will not suffice.

Following my earlier comments on that issue of actual legislation referral ,Jim has been helpful in trying to clarify the situation for the benefit of members and I for one Thank him for his help.

LeckyLes.

It's illegal to use a hose to wash a car in the street but can you use a pressure washer as it uses much less water?

Here is the original question asked by the OP.

The n322 website states that washing your car on the street is illegal and carries a fine for doing so, this question was answered within the first two or three replies.

Paolo, I am well aware of that information , which was kindly put forward by Jim after prompting by myself , for The Legal proof. And as previously stated at least three times by me all other answers prior to that provision of information, by Jim, including yours were simply opinions. I am pleased to have been able to assist you in now being in receipt of knowledge of that information.

It is the opinion of the n332 web site which is the source I used, sorry if that is not good enough to satisfy you.

Paolo, Oh ! I now see you have greatly edited and modified your previous reply to me.

Taking such actons greatly  confuses the continuity of the debate but  Thank You ,

LeckyLes.

It was being edited as you were replying so sorry for that.

If you care to look at my reply up thread you will see that I mentioned the n332 web site before these last few replies.

Paolo,at the top of this page you stated to me that the O.P had received an answer within the first three reply posts, yours being one of those replies. In that reply you made no mention of source for your reply ,therefore it was merely an opinion, as were all the other replies, including my own, The replies and opinions were only given some credibility  following the information provided by Jim after some prompting by me. Your mention of the N 322 website came after Jim had already supplied a link to it, If you had stated your source in your first reply to the O.P. your subsequent comments could have had some measure of legality.

Its actually illegal in the U.K as well. Its not water usage but pollution from run off. Modt of the car washes in placesike Sainsburys are illegal. In truth, to be fully, legal in the UK  ou need to apply for a discharge consent which varies by water authority. Kent will not allow discharges, Thames will, Cornwall will.

But no one knows and there is no one to enforce
