We're driving over late summer, I'm thinking of taking a British car and using it out there for a few months and either try selling it to a returning Brit or drive it back to Britain and selling it here, I'm doing the Portsmouth Santander crossing and seen a price of £400. I'm really looking forward to it.

I will be over again in the van in July...  And like you am looking forward to the journey, thats why I do Dover Calais or Dunkirk, the sights are amazing that route and the £300 saved on the ferry more than pays for a few camp sites and diesel.  I came back two weeks ago and did the Millau viaduct, absolutely stunning scenery and then Dali museum and house near Figures....  What a journey, more of a holiday... Cant wait to set off....

Enjoy your journey..

Rhudden, I'm looking at something a bit more mundane like an SUV which I can load up, shame really as it would have been fun.

Paul, if you want to save 10% off your fares, you can use my Brittany membership code. Just pm me if you want it

I have just been looking at Brittany Ferries membership scheme where you get discounts. Am I right in saying that it does not apply to the Pet Cabins?

The discount is only off the fares not the cabins, nor their special package offers when they do them, just fares. First year of membership is expensive, 1 off £105 to register and £125 annual fee, which is why I have offerred my code to anybody as they would get 10% off for free and I get £10 credit (just trying to recoup my initial outlay

Thanks Pauline. I will look into whether it is worth joining as we only travel one return journey each year. If not I might take you up on your, very kind, offer.

Yes you need to do at least 2 journeys per year to make it worthwhile paying out. We,re doing 2 this year and one is with van (dearer fares) and next year 2 van journeys.

Regards

Pauline.
