Shops tend to close Christmas Day, New Years Day and Three Kings Day.

They will close earlier than usual the day before, so shop workers can have family time.

Meals for Christmas Day  and NYE  functions have to be booked in advance.

Bit of a mixed bag for opening hours for  bars/restaurants around Christmas. Some will open Christmas Day and close on 26th & vice versa  Each bar knows it’s clientele - there’s not much point in opening on Christmas Day if you know the majority  of your customers are spending it on the beach.

Great thank you helpful. I'm sure we'll be fine and manage food wise till we can find local Supermarkets open. Ty

Hello

Although the 26/12 is not a holiday in Spain, it is a local holiday in Torrevieja so supermarkets may not open or reduce their  hours---- other areas, like Orihuela Costa  should have normal opening hour on 26th Dec

Cheers

Great ty

Spent last Christmas in Torrevieja for the first time. Some shops close early as well as restaurants but there’s always somewhere open.
Some establishments have a set dinner, at a cost. As I’m I’ve a small appetite it’s a waste of money for me. I cooked our own dinner in our apartment and while it wasn’t turkey and ham plus all the trimmings, we were well fed.
There was music for a few nights in the Plaza del Constitution Torrevieja approx from 22/26 Dec to cater for all ages, really enjoyable. Going back on 23 Dec, really looking forward to that.

Been out a number of Xmases now. It’s so much better than the UK for me. I booked my regular favourite restaurant for 7pm Xmas day and had a lovely meal and drinks and it was the same price I’d pay in the middle of May. We have a nice day out on the actual day - all the cafes are open. Even Decathlon is open 'abierto 365 dias' as they proudly say. Xmas eve isn’t bonkers like it is on the UK because the Spanish go for 3 kings more. So it’s a pleasant time to go to the boulevard or the supermarket. Weather is usually pretty decent with plenty of sunshine and al fresco lunchtimes very pleasant. You will have a great time!
