Hi,

Is the grocery shop at the Villamartin Plaza still open? I heard it was closing.

They are closing and very soon. Not much in stock for quite a while and ours is selling off what little they have at 20% discount but not much to choose from. Liquidacion signs in the window. Shame but too much competition now.

Thank you for replying. Yeah it's a shame. Was very convenient for picking up bits and pieces instead of driving to Dial a Prix or Lidl.

Hi

Jumerca in La Florida is the same.

A major loss to locals.

Cheers

Agree Steve, we can only hope that another similar company fills the void.

Hi Ken - that's doubtful!

You're probably aware that the bar next door to Jumerca in La Florida (Bar le Torre) closed down some time ago. A buyer was ready to proceed but then discovered that the beer garden actually belonged to Jumerca, not the bar, so everything ground to a halt.

The bar is now on the verge of reopening as "Nacional Rock" and has already built a stage for music in the garden, which they have presumably bought as well.

I think that when Jumerca finally closes it will also become a bar, possibly part of the Irish Pub Group, but I have to say that I've only heard that as gossip.

Cheers

Yes I was over last week and saw the final stages of the new bar.

Wonder what that will be like for the neighbours ??

I didn't know about the garden of Jumerca though.

If you mean neighbours objecting to live music in the garden - there were no problems when Bar le Torre had music. The only problem at the first gig a few years back was that the bar ran out of beer! They hadn't realised how popular it would be!
