I will ask for an invoice unfortunately we have paid but we won’t do it again.

We aren’t back out for a while but will ask him to keep the invoice for us.

Thanks for your advice 😀

Thanks :)

The property has only been left for 3 weeks and normally we are over ever 5/6 just work commitments have got In the way this month.   We are covered with him until aug and we have no electricity or water on atm.

Definitely not be using them again so will get in touch with Nicola  ty.

They say you are never to old to learn.

It’s just made me feel uneasy in a situation I wasn’t already 100% sure of so it’s kind of rocked my boat a little.   I’m sure we will get over it and it’s taught us a valuable lesson.

Thanks for your advice.  😀

Hi Pete

We will terminate but we can’t get over for the next few weeks so just playing by ear atm.  I think it would be better to get the keys when we are over there and can change the locks which is something we can do ourselves.

Ty your advice is appreciated.

Hola - we discovered a couple of years ago that our 'key-holders' were actually renting our our Playa Flamenca apartment without our knowledge - we only found out because our neighbours visited their property next door to ours and emailed us asking who was staying there. We live in Australia so would never have known plus it is in a gated community so other friends living locally would not have access to observe it being used!. Needless to say it was "a one-off emergency" on their part when we confronted them but we changed key-holders immediately. Other subtle observations were items left there and items missing from what our legitimate guests had left/found - all of which were "a mystery" when confronted - I believe a lot of this occurs and that's why we now use our neighbours best friends to manage our place!!

Oh no how horrible.   We don’t rent out but do keep an eye on moved things which has happened but could be that they just moved it but I am hyper sensitive.

It’s awful when you can’t trust someone who  is running a business. Cheers

Yes not the best discovery we had LOL - we don't rent it out just friends and family use but the key-holders had a nice little business going as they were managing about 50 apartments in the complex where they live, so all profit for them - The robbing B&574RD5 ☺

Whoever you use as a keyholder must be registered to work in Spain. Our house is let pretty much back to back. You can also set up certain security checks when the place is empty such as remotely activated alarms which you control. Your monthly electricity bill would also tell you if the property is in use when supposed to be empty.

However if you use a reputable company you won't have any issues anyway.

Thanks Dave/Bev - we were just naive back then and trusted them! All good now though with our new key holders as they're friends of friends and very trustworthy! ;-)

We have paid 300 euros for a year to what we thought was a trusted business company.   Will be changing when we next come over though.
