Hi all, my first post as we're looking at purchasing our first property soon. Joined the group to get a feel of things and find as much info as possible. Hopefully on a personal basis there may be some bargains to be had so were keeping our eyes peeled and all being well be enjoying the sun very soon.

An excellent first post......

Over 24,000 dead in Spain from Covid19.

Families destroyed, mass unemployment, businesses closing and economy in ruins.

I'm sure you'll find a bargain.........🖕

Hi Tourneyman and welcome to the forum!

I found this forum by accident, about 3 years ago, and it's been invaluable.  Of course, we're in unprecedented times for the foreseeable future, but hopefully you'll be able to pursue your dream of buying a property here later in the year.

Insofar as you're hoping to grab a "bargain", you may want to learn about "Complementary Tax" in Spain, which can be a sting in the tail:

https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/formentera-del-segura-spain-54/taxes-suma-nie-tax-advice-in-formentera-del-segura-25/complementary-tax-little-known-often-misunderstood-and-can-be-expensive-58217/

I'm sure you'll have loads more questions in time.  We've all been there and done it in one way or another, and many are still hoping to be able to buy, before UK citizens become Third Country Nationals, so I'm sure there will be plenty of us happy to share our experiences and learning with you.

Stay safe,

Kim

I'm sorry that you feel my post may of been taken out of context, we are all affected by this awful pandemic and it was no way meant to be derogatory to anyone who may be affected from it. I was basically stating as any property company has and is, that it is soon to be a buyers market and such buyers are welcome to come and invest and support the local economy.

As I mentioned before, Spain will in my opinion NOT see a dramatic decrease in property prices. Especially not in the higher class sector.

On the contrary. But I know that my opinion is not shared by most on this forum. We will see. Inshallah 🤪

Your first post sounds like a prospective purchaser.

Your second post reads like an estate agent ?? Are you ?

Haha no I'm not an estate agent. Purely looking for somewhere with a good climate / friendly environment to enjoy in the future.

Hi Tourneyman and welcome to the Forum.

You have come to the correct place for all things to do with the everyday  Spanish way of life of people visiting or living in Spain.

As you have, no doubt seen, this is a very vibrant Forum containing members who are always helpful and ready to give advice, or opinion, on pretty much any subject posted up

Best of luck in your proposed future time in the Sun.

Welcome tourneyman !

What’s on your “must have” list?  Why Villamartin?  Yes I’m nosey!  Lol

Keep browsing the real estate web sites to see what you generally get for your money.  Most places don’t have floor plans ..apparently if the  building  is more than x number of years old they won’t be able to find a floor plan ! That’s what I found very frustrating ! Working out the layout of a place ...is the kitchen next to the lounge or the other end of the front door ? Etc.

I had my real estate do some video walk throughs!  It helped enormously!
