I’ve rarely read anything so silly!!! And as for what appears to be the somewhat offensive remark, obviously engendered by a very large shoulder chip, that the English consider themselves superior........oh dear!

Well seeing as us English are apparently more superior as you put it, maybe we should be referred to as Ex-pats where as you Welsh should may be considered as immigrants? ;)

That quip made me smile Fred 😄😄

'Expatriate' originates from the Latin words 'ex' ('outside of') and 'patria' (one's country). It was initially defined as anyone who left their country or was exiled from it. During the European colonial period, 'expatriates' referred to colonial officers who travelled to overseas colonies.
immigrant meaning "a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country"
The English name for Wales originates from the Germanic word Walha, meaning "stranger" or "foreigner"
Being a fat bloke the only thing I hate to be called is "Late for dinner"
😂😂 yep

I think we are very lucky to be able to speak the international go to language. Many Walha’s from many countries speak it too.

It just really annoys me ...maybe it's because I'm Welsh and not English . The English have always in my humble opinion considered themselves to be somewhat superior to everyone else.
I suppose it's the racist angle that I don't agree with.

Many like myself I have to say do not speak Spanish because we expect the locals to speak English.
Can you consider for a moment the abuse and criticism that many people who choose to live in the UK from overseas have to contend with if they don't speak English.
We from the UK who live in Spain are immigrants who just like to dress up the fact and call themselves ex pat's. It's such an inoffensive and flowery term and that's why I'm not surprised that so many people choose to use it.
Hi Paul, you have to be joking! What about the ridicule, criticism and discrimination that definitely exists in Wales with regard to those who do not speak Welsh, and that is a fact. Equally true is the fact that second home owners are discriminated against by the Welsh and the associated Welsh laws. You don’t get that in Spain but you definitely do in Wales. In Wales you don’t even have to be English to suffer the above. You can be born in Wales, eventually be able to afford a holiday home in Wales through hard work and still be discriminated against. But, woe betide, if you can’t or do not want to speak Welsh, definitely not everywhere but in a lot of places. But always very happy to take your money in English. Anyway, enjoy Spain where you do not suffer discrimination to the same extent if you do not speak Spanish. By the way, this is not an argument, you have not paid for an argument, I’m just stating some facts.

Pointless, what does it matter?
I imagine it matters to a lot of immigrants/ex pat's who relocate to the UK.
