You don't need a lawyer just a good gestor however if Boris does manage to force through his October 31st 'do or die' Brexit it will likely becomes academic.
The very least you need to do to stand any chance of moving after that date is to be able to prove that you were actually living here before it AND actively attempting to get an appointment for a residency application which, in case you didn't know, is no easier here than in France.
I know one couple who like you are hoping to move from France but need to sell their property there first but without a buyer yet that's not going to happen in time so they have rented a place in Spain and are travelling back and forth as often as posible hoping to get away with pretending that they are already living here, whether that works out for them or not only time will tell.
One problem which may or may not affect you is healthcare. They are in the French system by virtue of S1's but for a residency application in Spain they will need new ones from DWP however the issuing of those will immediately cancel their current ones and DWP will tell the French which in turn will almost equally immediately lead to a demand for the return of their Carte Vitales.
Obviously that is a step they cannot afford to take until they do have an appointment and then hope not only that that their new S1's ones come through in time for it but also that their applications are successful - and even then still be faced with trying to sell their house in France where, quite possibly after Oct 31st., they will only be able to spend 90 days in any 180.
Very glad we got our move from France in when we did and are all 'papered up' and ready with everyone else to deal with the Brexit fallout when (or if) it comes.
