Hi All
My wife has been advised she needs a parcial Knee replacement and is on the long NHS list !
We have a place in Villamartin Spain and she was thinking of having it done there ,could anyone advise a hospital to approach or a consultant , she is prepared to pay private as cant wait any longer .

If you are based in the UK then enquire about going private there. I can highly recommend Spire if you have one near you.
I had to use Spire on a short visit back to the UK and they dealt with me very quickly and efficiently. We had to extend our stay in order to get over the operation but they were excellent.

Here it would probably be Quiron hospital in Torrevieja. Probably cost about €10,000 for full knee replacement so try phoning to see how much for a partial and book and appointment.

It is possible to get treatment in a private hospital in the UK under the NHS if there is a long waiting list. I've read it somewhere but I'm sure you can google for details. This way you get all the after care which I understand may not always be included in Spain.
When all is said and done, being in your own country relieves some of the stress of having an operation.
Maybe someone on here can pick up from this with details of how this can be achieved.

I had a full knee replacement done 18 months ago in the UK, we do have a place in Spain but are non-resident. I wouldn’t contemplate having the op done in Spain, as you will need a course of rehab, plenty of varying strength painkillers, and will be immobile for a considerable period of time.
I was very lucky in that my BNHS referral through to having the op was only 5 weeks, I was led down the route of a local private Nuffield hospital, who were/are taking a large number of NHS patient's.
Has your GP given a timescale on the waiting list and, if it is excessive, are there any options to use a private facility in the way that I did?

I have asked Quiron hospital Torre for a price and await reply
