My friend had a fall and was taken to Torrevieja Hospital after a lot of treatment she was told she had a fracture pelvic then was told she would have to go home at ten o’clock at night with no one at her home to look after her.

I don’t think any hospital would send her home and to sit her on her settee and just leave with a fractured pelvic.

As she like her drink and smokes I thing she signed herself out.

What do you think.

A hospital will normally only discharge a patient with a fractured pelvis only once the injury is deemed medically stable, meaning the bleeding has stopped, pain is managed, and the fracture is either healing well or stable enough for home care.

If she is stable enough to be discharged, the situation in Spain is that family are expected to provide home care. There are some social service facilities, but with certain rules and delays. If she is really without any help, she may unfortunately have to contact one of the home nursing agencies here or ask age concern if they can help. The C3 care agency is English run and is based near Benidorm,, look it up. Highly recommended by some contributors to this forum.

She as no family here in Spain, they put her sitting up settee she could not move could not get to her phone or the heating controls no drinks .

I found next morning cold and want a drink water.

That can not be right I was told by lots of people at a pelvic fracture put in to bed and lay flat.

Her daughter out with her now but still struggling with her.

I understand the difficulties but bed rest is not always appropriate I understand in these cases and sitting position may be recommended depending on particular extent of fracture. It is expected that family or private care will be provided once patient discharged. In my mother’s case, I was informed she would be discharged two days later although not possible for her to return home alone. And where were thry to send her? Managed to arrange residential care luckily. But aftercare outside family does not exist here for anybody unless gamilial pr paid privately.
