Hi Rustyruss and Graham

In addition to Pete Knights reply,  Jim has a guide

https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/mudamiento-spain-77813/health-beauty-fitness-sport-in-mudamiento-231/jims-guide-new-repeat-prescriptions-system-80840/

As anywhere hospitals and/or GPS provide prescriptions hopefully after assessment of need.

While some medications can be given over the counter there are several reasons why we need to visit our GPS in order to get a repeat prescription.

Do we still need them?  Should the dose be adjusted?   How are the side effects affecting us?  Any other problems that could change our need for that medication?

Yes, register with GP.   Remember an annual check up?

Dental and Optical treatment are not covered by public health system

Regards

Maria

Most statins are available over the counter and don't cost much at all. If you experience side effects then it might be worth trying omega 3 oil capsules, which aren't state funded and thus not price-controlled, so they can be relatively costly.

It is of course essential to have a periodic blood test to check whether a statin is doing its job, or whether the dosage or medication should be changed.

Hi Ray

Yes I also use flora proactiv as well,

not a lover of statins I tried a few before I found one that didn’t make my joints ache (rotuvastatin) and was advised by my GP that a reading of 11.2 was a high risk so had to bite the bullet.

It depends on the dosage and packet size but, for example,

RAMIPRIL SANDOZ 5 mg COMPRIMIDOS EFG , 28 comprimidos

is €4.84.

You can check medication prices here:
