My bank account with Bankia was taken over by CaixaBank  last October.  I have been paying a life policy with my Bankia mortgage for decades.  Caixa bank took on the mortgage but not the life insurance policy which had been in situ since 2008. At this late age, I find this out by just checking on things after the take over, to my horror.  I am old to start a new life insurance, and am afraid of cost.

I also found that the same bank, changed my bank account number without telling me, telling me that this  would not happen and  causing some issues of payment. When checking on my house insurance 'building and contents' alongside the life policy, again in place since 2008, I found the Ocober payment was not paid by them and so was 'cancelled' by Hogar plus, leaving my home unproteted. They did not mention anything to me and just say  they do not deal with other  insurances. I now need a policy for this purpose too. Can this be legal? Had I not asked for clarification on my insurance policies, I would not know they were no longer there , after paying all these years and thinking I had cover for my mortgage when I die and that it would go to my daughter  via my Spanish will , also in  place since 2008.  Looking for good insurance products and any advice.

My heart goes out to you.

The way that some Spanish banks treat their customers is disgusting.

How they can put you in such a vulnerable position with no responsibility to themselves is really frightening.

As a way forward maybe, advertised over there >>>>>

Is Gran Alacant insurances, maybe as a start point have a chat to them.

One of or regular posters (Cheryl) uses and highly recommends speaking to Alfonso who is extremely helpful, I have seen them recommend by others too.

Really hope that things work out for you.

Ken.

PS, Cheryl, hope you don't mind the reference?

Hi, just wanted to endorse Ken,s recommendation as I am in the process at this minute for a car insurance policy. I too was recommended him by Cheryl. He has been so helpful when my usual agent(4yrs) didn't send out a renewal and didn't reply to my emails. I understand your horror at not having your insurances as I too could have driven uninsured had I not remembered the date. Alfonso will be my go to for any insurance needs in the future. I was also recommended Janet Cunningham but my experience was not good, being told they could not take over my policy until next renewal. This was my next renewal! My policy had expired by 2 days but they insisted I had to stay with original agent until following year?? However they did have the cheek to phone me and ask when my house policy was due and could they quote on next renewal. No nonsense with Alfonso, and he gave me more info on insurances in Spain and how they differ to UK. Its always lovely when you have a good experience with someone.

Regards

Pauline
