Hi,

Has anybody made a claim on their house insurance through Sabadell bank home insurance.

We put a claim in over 10 Weeks ago for water damage coming through external wall from a neighbours staircase.

So far we have had regular updates to say they are progressing the claim but still no final decision on if they are going to pay for repairs

Has anybody else had problems with this comp

Hi Rob...YES! I have SERIOUS problems with this organisation! Their customer service is OUTRAGEOUS!

Because of 'their' practices, my banking system has TOTALLY collapsed!

The latest message, is for me to visit my local branch, where they have ALL of the details.

When I visit, the hostility/atmosphere, AND their refusal to co-operate is SO apparent, I leave with my head in my hands! BROWBEATEN!!

I have spoken MANY times with various lawyers, to NO avail.

I am SO unhappy with this, I just want to go home!

In essence, they have now DESTROYED my existence here in Spain!

It would be SO good, if someone would accompany me to sort them out once and for all!

Should anyone be able to assist, (paid), then please contact me without delay...

Many members on this Forum are aware of these circumstances, (Kimmy/Villas to name just a couple), and YES, this is the SAME circumstance after ALL OF THIS TIME! TWO LONG YEARS!😥🅱️.

I had cause to make two claims against Sabadell.

The first was partially settled, then nothing. The same thing with the second.

They flatly declined to pay in full. When their reason for refusing to pay was proved false, they ignored it and refused to pay.

The manager of the branch who arranged the policy (for a handsome commission) refused to help.

I appealed to the Ombudsman and the Bank of Spain, their only reply was to say that Sabadell had not breached any rules and that they could not help further.

I visited the office of the loss adjuster (as Sabadell cited their report in one of their refusals) and they just called the police and had me removed. All I had done was ask that they explain their reasoning.

I have no issue at all with the banking side of the business but the insurance side are simply robbers.

I, really do believe, that these people are brought to book!

Who do we turn to? I have already been in touch with various organisations..Result? ZERO!

They are getting away with it, each and every time!

It is high time we all 'clubbed together' on this, and vote with our feet! We NEED a petition!

Because of MY circumstances, I now have a 'social phobia', reluctant go and involve myself with ANY governing body. Example: It is a TOTAL waste of time and effort to 'argue' with ANY Spanish organisation...WHY, would 'official' bodies take the side of a 'foreigner', ESPECIALLY British, AGAINST a Spanish company? CLOSED RANKS and hostility!

I KNOW this, abogados REFUSE to be drawn in to the circumstance. Sorry...We CAN'T help!

I even requested an abogado to accompany me to the branch to fight my case...Guess what?..

In the meantime, customers who have remained 'loyal', have just WASTED their time, money and effort!

Is anyone aware of ANY European organisation, who may be able to advise, I have EVEN written to these people, once again: ZERO!

I AM SO VERY UNHAPPY!!

Let us hope, that someone, who can fight in OUR corner, let themselves be known? PLEASE...🅱️.

I made a claim when I had household insurance from Sabadell in my first year in Spain. It was a leak into the property below my rental property. They found the leak, fixed it and settled.

I'm now insured with Liberty Seguros via Jennifer Cunningham, would recommend this way of insuring because Liberty will want to ensure they retain the Cunningham business.

What I have found in Spain is that if you don't talk to people in capital letters, speak a little of the language, and smile, it sure goes a long way.

Fully agree with your final paragraph, however when met with the Spanish equivalent of a "Gallic shrug" you have to know when you've reached the end of the line.

Anything that's official, whether it be a bank, hospital, doctors I always take an independent interpreter. I can't say I've had any serious problems going that route.

Regarding Sabadell & their insurance affiliate company(s). Although pricey ( compared with others) I made a claim some years ago. Burglary, theft of personal items & damage to entry. I already repaired the damage privately & without receipt. They paid promptly all, within a week without a prob. V

Me too Steve. Understanding and being understood is rarely a problem.

Sometimes though there is no answer to the question other than "because it is" or "because I said so". In France the shorthand for this type of reply is a shrug.

In those situations all you can do is retire gracefully and contemplate your next move.

Hello,

If its a 3rd party that has caused the damadge, have you tried to get in contact with your neighbours?

Untill they fix the "main" problem that is causing your damadge which you have suggested that it is coming from your neighbours, they will not be able to repair the damadge done to you. Therfore, I suggest you get in contact with your neighbours and see if they have insurance, as they will come round to assess the damadges.

If the main problem has been repaired they will proceed with your repairs (from their insurance).

As professional agents we always recomend you go to a trusted agency, since the banks generally don't take care of assisting the client with the claim, they will just tell you to call the insurer. Banks shoud be just for banking and insurance with an insurance agengy, as with an agent they will help you through the process of a claim or any other procedure you may need help with. It doesn't cost more to have an agent deal with your insurace and it will offer peace of mind.

I hope this helps.
