Hi I did this once where the agent put me up in accommodation and picked me up from airport - they tried to pressure me every day ( this was in majorca) when I didn’t buy they abused me and abandoned me - and I was in an out of town area - I managed to speak enough Spanish to ask locals for a taxi - This was many years ago but the agents were British and had a great website and seemed great - I was told by others that “ The English DO the English” I’m sure these type of rogue agents still exist so as others have said beware and take your time -  😄

Hi there

My advice would be to do loads of research on the different areas and find one that ticks most of your boxes, make your own way out to Spain and rent a place in that area as your base.  Hire a car and get a good map and satnav, and just work outwards until you find an area you think you can live in. Spend time in local bars, chat to locals, most people are only too happy to share their knowledge and experiences.  Then if its a permanent  move, rent first just to make sure the area is right for you. And then find your house. I think the area is more important than the house, but others may not agree. We got more info from the locals than the internet, but it is a good place to start. As previously stated here, places are very different at different times of the year. And in view of the recent weather, although it is not experienced very often, bear this in mind when you buy.

Buying and selling in Spain is expensive, and if you are doing it all from overseas can be frustrating and difficult. Get the right place the first time and its a great life.

Good Luck!

Julie

Hi, I have a property for sale. Its in  El Campello area. Its a place called Bonalba Golf.  Its our second home so no chain. Its on the  property section of the forum, propertiesandvillasinspain.com Have a look you may like it! The area has a nice expat community and El Campello is beautiful. Busot is also up the road which is also lovely.

Regards

Jo

I would recommend Adam from vistacasas based in villa Martin plaza, he is totally trustworthy and will do his best for you.

Los dolses is a good area, midway between Villamartin and la Zenia , near enough all the action but not near the noise.

I lived in Villamartin for nearly 2 years and all it has is the Plaza, apart for a few other bars

I moved to Pinar de Campoverde and find it much better, not so touristy, and no high rise apartments.

Within 5 mins walk I have bars and restaurants, medical centre, vet, dentist and town hall for padron etc. Would definitely recommend as it’s more of a community here. At the end of the day it depends what you want

Hope this helps

I have just asked a question about areas then came across your reply here.

Which are the best urbanisations to look at in your area?

What's the chances of getting houses with sea views?

Many thanks

Hi Paul, Pinar de Campoverde is more residential  and not too touristy but there is still a lot going on. There are houses for sale with a varied price range from €80,000 up to €500,000. There are two main areas, old and new bit. I live in the old bit which has its own shops/bars/restaurants, and it’s only a 20 minute walk to the other which also has its own bars/restaurants.

Although I have sea views from my solarium and actually from the road outside it is too far to walk to the sea but only about 15/20 mins in the car

There is a walking football team and a walking group, a communal pool attached to a local

restaurant, and also tennis courts. I moved here from Villamartin and absolutely love it here

If you need anymore information please let me know

Don’t live there but if I ever moved that would be an area I’d be looking at obviously I like it there
