I know this is a long shot! But would you still consider renting your property out? My mum (who is retired) wants to rent somewhere initially for a month or so with the view of renting somewhere longer term (6 months +) but she wants to get a feel for the area first. She is currently living in the UK but is ready to make the move to Spain.
