Hi there,

Can anyone advise me how much it costs to obtain an NIE?

I read somewhere you can get one at a Spanish Consul in England but Ive been quoted £150 per person?

Is this correct?

Thank you

Dawn

Read my guide:

https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/almorad%C3%AD-spain-11/taxes-suma-nie-tax-advice-in-almorad%C3%AD-25/jims-guide-the-nie-39463/

It's a simple procedure and not worth paying anyone else to do it for you.

The price is €9.64.

That's up to the rental agency. If they're not based in Spain, then they might not want one. If they are based in Spain, then they will probably insist on it.

If you do rent long term, you'll presumably have a bank account here, possibly be paying the utility bills, and will have to register as a resident. All of these need you to have an NIE number.

Thank you very much for the advice Ray.

We are coming over on 11th May to look for a long term rent from June.

I hope we can get our NIE and secure a rental  within that week?

Regards

Dawn

Appointment for NIE went without a hitch. No waiting time at official office, policeman was very pleasant, read the paperwork, asked me to sign documents and then told my agent papers would be available on Wednesday.

When I called the agent today to go collect paperwork I was told they weren’t going to collect them until tomorrow, 24 hours after I expected them and I now have a deal at a garage to buy a car in limbo.

Conclusion only disappointment is with the agent
