Hi I have just obtained all the required documents/forms to submit my NLV and will shortly be sending my email requesting my appointment in the UK

I have been on many websites which advise of what documents are required for the application which I have subsequently obtained however most sites give differing answers to which documents need sworn translation and an apostille stamp.

I would be grateful if anyone has recently completed the process who could give me the definitive answers.

The documents in question are

Passport, medical certificate and criminal record check.

Many thanks

In Spain never expect a clear YES or NO. Everything can, would, should, could, perhaps, almost quite, or the contrary of it all. You can't rely on anything, but on the other hand nothing is strict and there are many "bypasses". It's like in 1001 nights, many beautiful shrouds promising heaven, but no clear view of what is behind all that. What you will need is time, patience, and a lot of intuition. Everyone speaks English, Dutch, French etc. as long as he can make you pay him for whatever. Otherwise "come back with a translator" is all you hear. Nevertheless, once accostumed to local habits, life is good, enyoy the climate and cheap booze, and simply forget about the rest - that's what I do for the last 56 years.

Well done Killjoy.......

Steve asked "I would be grateful if anyone has recently completed the process who could give me the definitive answers."

He's asking for help not negativity..... Killjoy by name......

Good luck Steve, somone with helpful answers will chime in soon.

Cheers Craig much appreciated for your reply and yes you are right I’m just asking advice on this particular subject.Killjoy thank you for your opinions however I’m fully aware of all the issues with regard living in Spain we have owned an apartment in villamartin since 2003 and visited at least 7 times a year.Unfortunately Brexit happened 3 months too early for me I retired from work this week and now want to make the move permanent we love the area the culture etc.

And so we must apply for a visa and Craig is correct and my original question still stands.

Thank you

Hello Steve

As you have done some research on this, I am assuming you have looked at the Spanish Embassy website.......

http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/LONDRES/en/Consulado/Documents/RES%20ES-EN.pdf

Was unable to copy/paste the paragraph you needed so......On the English version, while looking at Requirements, the last line on that section says "Certificates issued in the UK must be accompanied by a sworn translation into Spanish"

If you need more than this, you can find lots of help on the link above

Cheers
