Hi there,

My husband and I bought a property in Spain which we have just now sold. We registered ourselves as residents as we thought we were going to work and live in Spain, however reality hit and we decided it was not for us! We have been in Spain for 1 year but have spent more time out of Spain (in UK) than we have in Spain and I have worked in UK backward and forward for one year.

We have sold our property in Spain now and have no intentions whatsover of ever returning (even for a holiday!).

We are registered on the padron, have a Sabadell bank account, and also have residencia (green card).

Can someone please tell me how we cancel ourselves off the padron and more importantly how we cancel our residencia. I have heard we just fill out form EX 18, tick Baja and take it to the police station telling them we want to cancel? Is this true? This seems a little too easy for Spain to be honest!

The last thing we want to do is get on that plane in Dec only to have to come back to cancel our residencia!

Any sound advice welcome please.

Thanks

Ref the padrón, take existing padrón and passport to the town hall and tell them you want to do a baja del padrón.

You're correct about the EX-18 - just select the BAJA POR CESE box and enter a reason such as Volver a Reino Unido.

Hi Ray and Helen,

I remember you guys joining the forum.  Sorry to hear you're moving back to the UK.  It would be interesting to hear what has influenced your decision, if you don't mind sharing with us?  Especially as you say you, "have no intentions whatsover of ever returning (even for a holiday!)"?  It sounds like things have been tough for you?

In the meantime, congratulations on your sale, it sounds like it was a good result for you.  I hope your next adventure  works out well for you.

Best wishes and kind regards,

Kim
