Hi,

My Lawyer has contacted me about paying 160€ for Non-Resident tax. He charges 100€ to sort it for me. I enquired about setting up a direct debit to pay it each year so I would avoid this charge but he tells me you cannot set up a Direct Debit. Is he telling me porkies? Regards Berty

Hi

We pay non residents tax. Our lawyer deals with it for us. We pay our lawyer a yearly retainer fee and he deals with our local rates as well.

Would you mind letting us know how much you pay your lawyer as this is usually the most expensive way of doing it?

Our Abogado charges us 100€ +IVA each, as each person on the title deeds (Nota Simple) has to submit a Spanish Tax return form every year. I believe it has to be done in a certain period of the tax year. Our Tax is normally 38€ each. We need to change to cut down on our costs.

If some of the other company's recommended by members on here, could give the email address's along with the recommendations that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

getlegalinspain.com. Personal recommendation, they speak English, the rates are very good and they can help out with so many different things. I wouldn't use anyone else now.

Ouch!  So next time you're in Spain, go to your local SUMA office to set up a direct debit to pay your IBI (Council Tax); then use Spanish Tax Forms Ltd or Angar Taxation Services to do your Non-resident tax, and you'll save €120 per year.

Thanks for that. Will look into it the next time I'm over.

We've used Angar Taxation in the past and can recommend them. You pay a fee of €20 per person (my wife and I are both named on the house deeds so the tax bill is split between us). So €40 in fees plus the tax which was €77 split 2 ways.

I now calculate and pay it myself saving €40 a year. Its easy when you've done it once. ...

Hi Craig how do you calculate it
