We are going through the process of a property purchase and need to sign an official document from the Lawyers  digitally/electronically, I don't know which once we would use, and haven't a clue how to go about this , if anyone has done this would appreciate any help thanks

Hi Winnie1,

There are many electronic signature software providers (I use Docusign: https://www.docusign.com/products/electronic-signature), but if your lawyers want you to sign a contract that they've generated, why aren't they producing it in an appropriate electronic format in the first instance?  If I were you, I'd push back on them.

Kind regards,

Kim

Definitely, that's not the normal procedure. You should insist in handsigning before a Notary Public, and be sure to be aware of what you sign, there is no way to pull lout afterwards.

Think we may have got this wrong, Hubby has messaged the Lawyer  and they have said  sign it all,  make copies  then e.mail them back to them,  which someone on here said this is what they did , there is nothing underhand about them,  think Hubby read it wrongly we  were just asked to sign the document  he wrongly assumed it should have been done electronically, this is such a big deal and minefield for us  but thanks for the advice   we know we don't have sign before the Notary  as our Lawyer  has POE to save all the flights  back and forth which many people I have spoken to do, but think we would like to be there on the day it is signed over although this isn't necessary

Thanks for the update Winnie.  If you're in doubt, never worry about asking - there are no "silly questions" if you don't know the answer, especially when you're buying property.

Congratulations on your purchase!

Kind regards,

Kim
