Hi there,

Am looking for someone who has first hand experience of changing electricity provider.

Am currently with Iberdrola which has a minimum standing charge of €29 and which I find appalling.

My last bill was €39 for reasons unknown; I haven't been at the property for 3 months and the only electricity being used is for two CCTV cameras, its DVR recording box and a router. €39 is a first in terms of charges while vacant and enough is more than enough.

The local office at La Zenia is also the most miserable bunch of girls I have ever come across. 'Surly' but all in capital letters.

Would love to get shot of them and would very much appreciate hearing from someone who has actually gone through it.

Many thanks,

🐝

Better think twice. Iberdrola owns all the infrastructure, the others are resellers with an uncertain future. If your "new" supplier goes out of business for any reason, a reconnection to Iberdrola can become more expensive than any possible "savings" previously obtained.

I do not have any experience of changing suppliers, when I was in the Boulevard on Saturday there was a pop up Iberdrola stand, you may get a better response there. It was in the spine that runs along side Al Campo by the lottery booth. The lady was smiling when she was speaking to the customer, but it might just have been wind! 😏

I agree the standing charges make Dick Turpin look like a philanthropist.

Don’t forget that a huge proportion of  electricity charges in Spain are in fact various taxes. The cost per unit for most plans is acceptable, but unfortunately it’s the taxes over and above which really knocks up the price. The standing charge does depend upon which particular charging plan you have, but they are unavoidable.

Thank you. Wasn't aware. The Mafioso of the sparks world, eh?!

It's truly shocking.

for the same reason we changed to Nordic a couple of years ago - painless operation. They also offer a very good off-peak tariff so you can do washing and ironing, etc at almost half the cost up till around mid-day.  However, am still paying c.30euros per month even though it's been empty all last year

I changed to Siesta Energy near La Zenia roundabout. Simple, take your bills and the will tell you what savings you can expect. I'm a happy customer.
