Hi folks, hope all getting better out there. Sorry to trouble you, just wanted to know if when not in property and not using electricity what kind of charges are you expected to pay? I have zero use since Dec, yet Iberadola have charged around 25-30 euros last four months since my last trip, is this like a rental/service charge or what? would be helpful for advice. Intend on returning soon, should be there now but hopefully will get out by summer's end. Stay sate all, Lyn Stoneman

Hi Lyn,

You don't say what "potencia" your property has, but it will almost certainly be down to the standing charges, which seem to make up a disproportionate amount of the bills in Spain.

There's lots of information on the forum, in "Jim's Guides", that you may find helpful - scroll down to the section titled "Utilities in Spain":

Jim's guides - your complete guide to Spain

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Lyn, and welcome to the Forum.

Just as in The UK and elsewhere there are standing charges for Utiliy Services, such as in this case for Electricity Supplies.

In Spain, the Standing charge varies in step with the amount of Power capacity you have agreed in your contract.

I dont have information on your contract but the amount you quote does not seem excessive.

Hi

My electric is also high. It's around 40€ Per month with it turned off. I'm with iberdrol. I've just sent an email asking about it and asking if they estimated it.

Your bill should state whether it is based on an actual meter reading.

If you don't understand your bill, look at the links I posted above.
